Abscess

Jun 30, 2024

In hidden depths where pain may hide,
A swelling gathers, unseen inside,
A secret chamber, a silent foe,
An abscess forms, where troubles grow.

Beneath the skin, where tissues meet,
Infection brews, a subtle feat,
White cells rally, a battle starts,
Against invading microbial arts.

Pus, thick and noxious, takes its place,
A mix of death in life’s embrace,
With bacteria dancing in reckless spree,
In the dark, where no eye can see.

The body fights, with might and main,
To contain this pocket of unseen pain,
Redness, swelling, warmth, and ache,
Signals sent of the body’s wake.

In organs deep, or ‘neath the flesh,
Where illness lurks, in silent mesh,
Abscesses breed, their presence known,
In tissues fragile, where health is thrown.

Treatment calls, for skilled hands to aid,
Drainage sought, where darkness laid,
Antibiotics wage their war,
To heal the wound, to cleanse the core.

For left unchecked, a dire toll,
Infection spreads, to claim its goal,
Nearby tissues fall to its dread,
As bloodstream highways carry the thread.

So heed the signs, the body’s call,
When whispers hint of a hidden thrall,
For abscesses, though silent, can pose,
A threat profound where sickness grows.
